5 Steps to Knock Out Smoke Odors

Posted by Charlie Cabrera on 14th May 2014

I began my scenting career in Portland, Oregon back in 1995. In those days you could get away with smoking in almost any public place; bars, restaurants, hotels, motels, etc.
Fast forward to today...smoking in bars, restaurants and apartment buildings is banned in many cities.  You may be allowed to smoke a cigarette outside at least 25 feet away.
Many hotels & hotels and apartment buildings prohibit smoking in their rooms, or there is a small number of designated rooms. Gosh, I remember the days when it was okay to smoke on an airplane!
If you are in real estate, hotel or property management business, you should check out our product No Smoke. It is very effective for controlling smoke odors.

Getting rid of smoke odors in a house, hotel room or area really depends on a few factors:

1. ASSESS SITUATION

  •  How long has the house been smoked in?
  • Was it cigarettes, marijuana, cigars, fire, or a combination of those?
  • Wa the house periodically cleaned (carpet shampooed, fabrics washed etc.
  • What kind of surfaces are we dealing with? Furniture, carpet, tile, wood etc.

2. WASH SMOKE & SMELLY, CONTAMINATED OBJECTS

The best way to approach this challenge is to remove the smelly objects, nsuch as ashtrays, any cloth items, and objects ( yes smoke permeates everything! Clean hard surfaces and shampoo carpets.

3. USE A QUALITY CLEANER

Take these items and wash or clean them thoroughly with a mild detergent or green citrus based cleaner. A quality citrus cleaner is best because it helps deodorize and will emulsify and de-grease the tar like nicotine oils.

AIR OUT ROOM OR HOUSE

When all of the above steps are completed,Open your windows  for as long as you can to help air out any residual odors. The odors will be permanently erased and the  area will smell fresh and new .

SET UP AIR FRESHENER MACHINE

Plug in or use a battery powered Scent Blaster and No Smoke scent bar. This will help permeate the areas where there are lingering smoke odors. Your room will smell fresh and clean, and in most cases all smoke odors will be eliminated.
